Precious Garden-Kind Deed

Sister Dustin had some serious threats with her health and found solace in her "garden" which was to open her blinds and look across the street but directly in front of her window is a dead bush. Her prayers have been answered and her symptoms disappeared.  Someone secretly took the time to wire silk flowers on the bush outside her window. When she entered the room, she immediately squealed with delight.  What a great gift from the heart.  To think of and do  a kind deed like that is a special act of true charity.

Bishop's Storehouse and Employment Center

This is the third time I have posted this smilebox because I just keep trying to make it better.  This one is more complete.  I hope that you will view it and get a feel for what goes on in this sacred building.

Slidell Missionaries

We are grateful to enjoy every one of these missionaries so very much.  It won't be long before a transfer will probably take one or maybe two of our young missionaires so we had to get out the tripod and get a picture of all of us together.  They are a powerhouse for good.

This lady is a remarkable woman.  We share the same first name.  We all learn a lot from her.  She is a volunteer service missionary in the employment center too.

THANK YOU FOR VISITIING OUR BLOG.

I love this saying by President Thomas S. Monson

Heat & humidity

It has been so hot that our glasses fog up when we get out of our air conditioned car.  One day I got out of the car and said "where did all the smoke come from!"  It took a couple of seconds to realize it was just my fogged up glasses.  Sister Dustin and I took pictures of the glasses all fogged up one day when it was abou 115 heat index.  In the picture of me, the camara lense was fogged too and it will sometimes do that even if it is in the back seat in the padded camera bag.  Pretty funny.

Half Party/Burn a Skirt!

We have a funny tradition to burn a skirt, for the sister missionaries ,when they get half way through their mission.  Elders burn a tie.  Sister Dustin is at her half way mark and the Earnharts are 2/3 rds through so the two sisters  decided to burn skirts.  they are all  wonderfully delightful people. We found a safe place and had a fire extinquisher handy.  I served 1/2 snack bars and 1/2 bananas and the Earnharts brought a huge very delicious sweet watermelon.  This is great watermelon country.  I had a blast taking pictures.
I think this picture at the bottom looks like a person.  You can see her two feet and legs.  Pretty funny. this is just such a fun and lighthearted group at times and serious when they need to be.  Always warm and friendly.  They make may day every day.

Oil Spill Workers

They really are working on the oil cleanup on the beaches.  You can see the boat in the water too.  It was 100 degrees and heat index of 110 or 112. this hot weather is a recipe for more  hurricanes.  We hope they don't come this year.  Oil and wind and water. Messy to say the least.
