Obtain The Word Of God- 1 Nephi 19:19

1 Nephi 10:19

Obtain the word of God

What
19 Wherefore, I speak unto all the house of Israel, if it so be that they should obtain athese things.

Why
Nephi taught all the house of Israel as he wrote so that in our day we could learn of the Redeemer and the gospel.

Christ
the purpose of Nephi's writings was so that we would know of the Savior. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.

Pattern
Our leaders today are speaking to us at General Conference twice a year to continue to teach us and warn us of coming trails. They build our faith and teach us of the Savior and His plan of salvation as it specifically applies to us at this present time. [the timing is perfect as we just had general conference for the last two days. And it was wonderful].
Morm. 5:12
12  Now these things are writtenunto the remnant of the house of Jacob; and they are written after this manner, because it is known of God that wickedness will not bring them forth unto them; and they are to be hid up unto the Lord that they may come forth in his own due time.Mormon 7:9-107:9 (9–10)

Mormon 7:9-10
9  For behold, this is written for the intent that ye may believethat; and if ye believe that ye will believe this also; and if ye believe this ye will know concerning your fathers, and also the marvelous works which were wrought by the power of God among them.
10  And ye will also know that ye are a
remnant of the seed of Jacob; therefore ye are numbered among the people of the first covenant; and if it so be that ye believe in Christ, and are baptized, first with water, then with fire and with the Holy Ghost, following the example of our Savior, according to that which he hath commanded us, it shall be well with you in the day of judgment. Amen.

Enos 1:16
16  And I had faith, and I did cry unto God that he would preservethe records; and he covenanted with me that he would bring themforth unto the Lamanites in his own due time.

ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Look to the Book, Look to the Lord

Elder Gary E. Stevenson
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Each of you can … receive a personal witness of this book! Do you realize that the Book of Mormon was written for you—and for your day? This book is one of the blessings of living in what we call the dispensation of the fulness of times. …
In order to help the Book of Mormon become the keystone of your testimony, I offer you a challenge. I recently learned that many young people spend an average of seven hours a day looking at TV, computer, and smartphone screens. With this in mind, would you make a small change? Will you replace some of that daily screen time—particularly that devoted to social media, the internet, gaming, or television—with reading the Book of Mormon? If the studies I referred to are accurate, you could easily find time for daily study of the Book of Mormon even if for only 10 minutes a day. And you can study in a way that allows you to enjoy it and understand it—either on your device or in book form. …
Within the book’s pages, you will discover the infinite love and incomprehensible grace of God. As you strive to follow the teachings you find there, your joy will expand, your understanding will increase, and the answers you seek to the many challenges mortality presents will be opened to you. As you look to the book, you look to the Lord. The Book of Mormon is the revealed word of God.
Apply
We are so blessed today to have the Book of Mormon and the Bible together and the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price and living prophets and apostles on the earth today. We have every opportunity to learn and be filled with his spirit and know for ourselves of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. We are blessed to be able to have temples on the earth where we can go and receive special blessings and make sacred covenants and be sealed together as families. We can also take the names of our ancestors and have their temple work done by proxy and be baptized in their behalf. That process will unite eternal families and brings great joy on both sides of the veil.

Study the Scriptures. Listen to conference, study those talks and follow the teachings and counsel given. Review them often. Be grateful for our blessings to live now in these latter days. There is no better time to live.

274- The Iron Rod
1 Nephi 15: 23 And they said unto me: What meaneth the arod of iron which our father saw, that led to the tree?
24 And I said unto them that it was the aword of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would bhold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the ctemptations and the fiery ddarts of the eadversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.
25 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did exhort them to give aheed unto the word of the Lord; yea, I did exhort them with all the energies of my soul, and with all the bfacult ywhich I possessed, that they would give heed to the word of God and remember to keep his commandments always in all things.

2 Nephi 4:15
15 And upon athese I bwrite the things of my soul, and many of the scriptures which are engraven upon the plates of brass. For my soul cdelighteth in the scriptures, and my heart dpondereth them, and writeth them for the elearning and the profit of my children.
